Local Artist Rebecca Deneau

Local Artist Rebecca Deneau

Rebecca Deneau's art perfectly captures the warmth and charm of Northern Michigan. While she's a native of Chicago, where she first began painting, Deneau has lived in her husband's hometown of Traverse City for about 20 years now, and both locales inspire her work.

Says Deneau, "I love the slower pace, the people, and the beautiful landscape of Northern Michigan. My husband and I have three nature-loving boys and a pup named Penny. We try to live a quiet and slower life, value time together and get outside as much as possible to enjoy our area."

Oil painting may have started as a hobby that spanned her 20s and 30s, but now in her 40s, Deneau's fine art career is flourishing, with gorgeous original works, art prints, boxed card sets, calendars and journals and even Frame TV digital art. She also illustrated Daniel Hoye's children's book Let's Go North, a "sweet and gentle rhyming poem" set in the natural beauty of late-summer Midwest.

"I paint out of my home studio with my pup, Penny, nearby. When I am not painting, you can find me in the woods or on the lakeshore, exploring with my family", says Deneau.

You can find Deneau's exquisite boxed cards and children's book in our Northern Michigan stores and online here.
